November 2023: the abbey is very beautiful, silence reigns.
The abbey dates back to the 11th century, the facade and interior are typically Romanesque. The friars belonged to the Cistercian order. During Napoleonic domination, it was expropriated and the cloister and cells are no longer visible as, having passed into private hands, they were demolished and transformed into stables and rooms for civilian use. The abbey is well kept and inside there are valuable paintings, frescoes and wooden works. The town is small and close to the Adda river. Pleasant relaxing trip for those who want to combine artistic and landscape interests. It is possible to visit, by booking, an ancient mill.
Splendid medieval church with three naves, rigorous and essential interiors.
The village in which it is located is easily reachable from Lodi and Crema by bicycle (about half an hour). You can take beautiful walks along the Adda.
In the small square there is an emporium bar where you can buy excellent products
This abbey is particularly suitable for weddings
It takes your breath away with its simplicity. A tiny village with such masterpieces. Next to the church is the actual abbey, now my cousins' farm.
The Cerreto Abbey was a Cistercian monastery located in the Lodi area, in the current town of Abbadia Cerreto. It was dedicated to Saints Peter and Paul. …
What remains of the abbey is its splendid church which illustrates the transition from Romanesque to Lombard Gothic better than an art history book. Unmissable in "La Bottega di Campagna" square. Giorgio will help you taste the culinary delicacies of the area.
The atmosphere, the silence, the ancient Romanesque church from 1087....you are catapulted back 1000 years!!
Beautiful place a few km from Lodi to absolutely visit.
Very large, simple without many frills, but you could feel a lot of peace
Beautiful, very ancient, among the main Lombard abbeys. Worth a visit and my full marks
An ancient Cistercian monastery located in the current town of Abbadia Cerreto, it is an ideal destination to fill the spirit
